OS: Case Study 3

In a multiprogramming and time-sharing environment, several users share the system simultaneously. This situation can result in various security problems. Name at least two of these problems. Can we ensure the same degree of security in a time-share machine as we have in a dedicated machine? Explain your answer

A multiprogramming is a method of simultaneous execution on a digital computer of several programs related to different problems. Multiprogramming system is that system in which multiple programs run at same time or simultaneously for example windows xp.in this system does not provide user interaction with the computer system. But time sharing systems that provide user interaction with system and user thinks that system is with him all the time.

Some problems are: Data confidentiality having secret or confidential data remains so defining and enforcing who can see what – authorization authentication. Stealing or copying one's programs or data; using system resources (CPU, memory, disk space, peripherals) without proper accounting. Unauthorized user or program cannot modify data without owner’s permission. Writing over another program's (belonging to another user or to the OS) area in memory. Using system resources (CPU, disk space) without proper accounting; Causing the printer to mix output by sending data while some other user's file is printing.

The more complex the scheme, the more difficult it is to feel confident of its correct implementation. Security depends on the key strength number of keys type of algorithm key distribution system reliability of persons and other such parameters in cryptology hence time sharing or dedicated machines.

The time-sharing mode gives every user the impression that the computer is working for him alone. Each user is supplied with a data input-output device (of the display type) or other equipment that ensures interaction with the computer. This includes equipment that uses telephone lines. Each user solves his problem periodically during the machine time allocated to him, studies the results, and prepares the next assignment for the computer. The user ordinarily uses a general library of programs, but he may also have a private archive. If the general library is used, a supervisory program plans and executes forced interruptions of programs depending on user priority, machine time allocated to him, and the nature of the problem being solved. The time-sharing mode permits the user to carry on an effective dialogue with the machine, which is most convenient in control systems for production processes, automatic control systems for enterprises and sectors of the national economy, reference and information services, and large computer centers. When it is not serving users, the computer may do batch processing.
Multiprogramming is provided by hardware and software. The hardware includes memory protection and the organization of interruptions. The software includes supervisory programs and problem-oriented programming languages that take into account the characteristics of multiprogramming.

OS: Case Study 2

Select two of the following professionals:

Put forward a theory about how that person might use a hand held computer in their work

• A newspaper reporter

The work of the reporter is to gather all the information needed in a certain type of mass media. They have different ways in collecting data. A newspaper reporter gather and analyze facts about current events that is happening in a certain events, and they observes, investigates or interview to get information. They take notes or use a tape recorder while covering a story. Reporters work both indoors and outdoors, dealing with all kinds of people. They may work for long periods on unproductive leads. With the help of computers, they can check references thru internet, and even they are not in the office they can use portable computers outdoor. Sometimes, to meet deadlines, reporters deliver their news story over the telephone or use portable computers to enter the story which is then sent by modem directly to the newspaper's computer system. In my research, I found out that electronic technology has brought change to the newspaper office; it has not diminished the need for reporters. Automation has eliminated the legendary clamor of the large news room in favor of a more high-tech information producing operation.

• A Manager in a Supermarket

A manager is the one who manage a team. They are the one who supervise employees and store operations, also in inventory and ordering products. A supermarket manager should communicate with the employees. Computer is a big help in this kind of industry. Information systems are used widely in shops and in the distribution of goods and one area in which their use is particularly important is a supermarket. Computer systems are used in a variety of ways in the modern. The supermarket uses several computers. The internet is a huge help to people relocating, giving them a visual aid of what is available in the supermarket. Much communication can be done prior to a prospect arriving in a new town.

Techno2: Assignment 3

your reflections/learning's/thoughts on the video clip of Guy Kawasaki: MAKE Meaning (at least 2000 words)

We watched a video clip of Guy Kawasaki. Who is Guy Kawasaki? He is one of the founders and Managing Director of Garage Technology Ventures, a seed-stage and early-stage venture capital fund. Lots of learning that we can get here in his video; the art of the beginning. He suggested some tips and guidelines in order to be successful in life and how to balance life. He gives examples of the best way to make meaning: increase quality of life, right a wrong, and prevent the end of something good. Increase quality of life is the best example of make meaning. It can motivate your self or your goal in life. If you make meaning in your life, you increase the quality of your life. It can help you to go on in your life. Next is right a wrong. In that quote, we should to good deeds in order to make our life better. If we want people will treat us good, we should start that in our own. To right a wring is a good way in make meaning of our life. Just follow your heart if you know that's the right thing to do. The last one is prevent the end of something good. All bad things and good things happen for a reason. Whatever the outcome of your plans just be ready and accept it.

He also explains that market research, focus groups, and test cases can bog down an entrepreneur and prevent her or him from completing the most necessary task - action! His advice to break the cycle is to think different, polarize people, and find a few soul mates. He also suggested to create a milestone to keep the business in a right path in order to be successful. All of the experience in the world means nothing if they are not bitten and infected by the start-up bug. He also tells you how to avoid the bozo explosion, which only leads to layoffs, and how to apply the shopping center test to know if you're hiring the right person. There are so many ways on how to be successful in life: Set targets or goals - Always set realistic targets and give yourself a date by which to reach your target. Review your targets on a regular basis to make sure they are always attainable. Study hard. Tap your resources. Have a positive mental attitude .Negative thoughts that have been inculcated in our conscious and unconscious minds are among the major hindrances in our lives. Manage your time right. Learn to give and share to others. Success cannot be achieved by just your own efforts. There are also people around you who have contributed and paved the way for you to succeed, so you have to be thankful for that. Mistakes are an inevitable part of business life, particularly so for start ups. Errors can serve as learning tools, but can also sap your enthusiasm and drive. Mistake is a challenge.

He says that: “if you make meaning, you will probably make money. But if you set out to make money, you will probably not make meaning and you won’t make money.” In this quotes, he wants to imply in business, making meaning is also make money. Making money in business is one of the most important factors. All of the business man should come up with a big money in order to be successful. If you really dedicated in your life, you will be successful. You have to put your heart in this kind of activity. Make meaning is not just also to make money but to increase the quality of life, right a wrong, prevent the end of something good and to make a better place. You have to set your goal in life. What do you want or what you like. Setting goals to your self is an essential element of being a human. To be effective, goals must be clear and understandable. Each goal must be concrete, attainable, and critical to the growth of your business. Don't set goals such as "Do a better job," because a general goal does not instruct.

In order to be successful in life you have to balance everything. Do the right thing in the right way and help people in a right way without any hesitation. Kawasaki said that too much money is worse that not enough money. He believes that if you are having a hard time finding someone to spread the message about your product, then you may need to re-evaluate your product or your goals. Build something great, and the evangelists will be there. Every business requires a different set of skills or know-how, knowing general principles of doing business can go a long way to ensuring the long term. There are many tips to be successful in life: Work with your passion - do something that you love. When you’re in a business that gives you personal satisfaction, then you’ll do anything to make it succeed. You have to know what you love, what you like and what you hate. Believe that you will be successful - when you have a winner’s mindset, then you’ll be motivated to work hard, persist and focus and don't be afraid. To have mistake is a challenge for us. You have to ready always because not all the time we are the winners. Train to be a better entrepreneur - For most people; a home-based business is the starting point of their journey towards a life of entrepreneurship. And the only way to reach success is to constantly invest in yourself and make your entrepreneurial spirit grow. Planning is an often overlooked aspect of starting a business, a fatal mistake that often shows up in midstream. Mistakes are an inevitable part of business life, particularly so for start ups. Errors can serve as learning tools, but can also sap your enthusiasm and drive. Passion can only take you so far, and when the mistakes pile up, a man without a plan could be in serious trouble. Creating and sticking to a plan is more important for start up businesses, as these often have limited resources. Jacinto says businesses often make the mistake of splurging on only one aspect of the business, to the detriment of other factors.

Make meaning in your life is a big help for us to go on with our life. You have to know what you really love, what you like and what you hate. In order to be successful in life, you should be focus in everything and balance. As I watched the video again, it really inspired me again to enjoy life and to think business that is good and can help to everyone

OS: Case Study 1

Give an example OS (Specific) for each of the following categories of OS:
State its description and other specifications.

• Batch Systems

Example:
• The University of Michigan Executive System, or UMES, a batch operating system developed at the University of Michigan in 1958, was widely used at many universities. Based on the General Motors Executive System for the IBM 701, UMES was revised to work on the mainframe computers in use at the University of Michigan during this time (IBM 704, 709, and 7090) and to work better for the small student jobs that were expected to be the primary work load at the University.
UMES was in use at the University of Michigan until 1967, when MTS was phased in to take advantage of the newer virtual memory time-sharing technology that became available on the IBM System/360 Model 67.

• IBSYS was the tape based operating system that IBM supplied with its IBM 7090 and IBM 7094 computers. A similar operating system (but with several significant differences), also called IBSYS, was provided with IBM 7040 and IBM 7044 computers. IBSYS was based on FORTRAN Monitor System (FMS) and SHARE Operating System.
IBSYS itself was really a basic monitor program, that read control card images placed between the decks of program and data cards of individual jobs. An IBSYS control card began with a "$" in column 1, immediately followed by a Control Name that selected the various IBSYS utility programs needed to set up and run the job. These card deck images were read from magnetic tapes, prepared offline, not usually directly from the punched card reader.

Advantages of batch systems

• move much of the work of the operator to the computer
• increased performance since it was possible for job to start as soon as the previous job finished
Disadvantages of batch systems
• turn-around time can be large from user standpoint
• more difficult to debug program
• due to lack of protection scheme, one batch job can affect pending jobs (read too many cards, etc)
• a job could corrupt the monitor, thus affecting pending jobs
• a job could enter an infinite loop

• Interactive Systems

Example:
Computer-aided technologies (CAx) is a broad term describing the use of computer technology to aid in the design, analysis, and manufacture of products.
Advanced CAx tools merge many different aspects of the product lifecycle management (PLM), including design, analysis using finite element analysis (FEA), manufacturing, production planning, product testing using virtual lab models and visualization, product documentation, product support, etc. CAx encompasses a broad range of tools, both those commercially available and those which are proprietary to the engineering firm.
The term CAD/CAM (computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing) is also often used in the context of a software tool covering a number of engineering functions.
Issues to be taken into account for interactive systems:
• User classes. Interactive systems often have varied classes of users with varying (potentially conflicting) requirements and expectations.
• Other systems. Interactive systems may interface with other systems in their environment.
• User interface. The ability to model and represent user interface requirements

Requirement issues for interactive systems:
• Indirect system concerns. These are issues related to system design and implementation, the influence of the system on the organisation and the system’s influence on the environment.
• Quality of service. The closeness of the system to the end-user lends special significance to quality of the service delivered. Quality concerns include:
• Availability
• Performance
• Usability
• Form of delivery

• Real-time systems

Example:
Xenomai is a real-time development framework cooperating with the Linux kernel, to provide a pervasive, interface-agnostic, hard real-time support to user space applications, seamlessly integrated into the Linux environment.
Xenomai is based on an abstract RTOS core, usable for building any kind of real-time interface, over a nucleus which exports a set of generic RTOS services. Any number of RTOS personalities called “skins” can then be built over the nucleus, providing their own specific interface to the applications, by using the services of a single generic core to implement it

An OS that can absolutely guarantee a maximum time for the operations it performs is referred to as hard real-time. In contrast, an OS that can usually perform operations in a certain time is referred to as soft real-time.
Jitter: The amount of error in the timing of a task over subsequent iterations of a program or loop is referred to as jitter. Real-time operating systems are optimized to provide a low amount of jitter when programmed correctly; a task will take very close to the same amount of time to execute each time it is run.
Figure: Jitter is a measure of how much the execution time of a task differs over subsequent iterations. Real-time operating systems are optimized to minimize jitter.
A Real-Time system is defined as a system whose correctness depends on the timeliness of its response. Examples of such systems are flight control systems of an aircraft, sensor systems in nuclear reactors and power plants. For these systems, delay in response is a fatal error. A more relaxed version of Real-Time Systems, is the one where timely response with small delays is acceptable. Example of such a system would be the Scheduling Display System on the railway platforms. In technical terminology, Real-Time Systems can be classified as:
• Hard Real-Time Systems - systems with severe constraints on the timeliness of the response.
• Soft Real-Time Systems - systems which tolerate small variations in response times.
• Hybrid Real-Time Systems - systems which exhibit both hard and soft constraints on its performance.

• Hybrid Systems

A computer system that performs two or more functions, such as data processing and word processing. A hybrid system is a dynamic system that exhibits both continuous and discrete dynamic behavior. Hybrid systems arise when the continuous and the discrete meet. Combine continuous and discrete inputs, outputs, states, or dynamics, and you have a hybrid system. Particularly, hybrid systems arise from the use of finite-state logic to govern continuous physical processes (as in embedded control systems) or from topological and network constraints interacting with continuous control (as in networked control systems).
Example: Hybrid systems have been used to model several systems, including physical systemswithimpact, logic-dynamiccontrollers, and even Internetcongestion. And one of the example of hybrid system is the bouncing ball.

• Embedded Systems

• A computer system that cannot be programmed by the user because it is preprogrammed for a specific task and embedded within the equipment which it serves.
Example:
NetBSD is a freely available open source version of the Unix-derivative Berkeley Software Distribution (BSD) computer operating system. It was the second open source BSD descendant to be formally released, after 386BSD,and continues to be actively developed. The NetBSD project is primarily focused on high quality design, stability and performance of the system.
NetBSD also provides system call-level binary compatibility on the appropriate processor architectures with several UNIX-derived and UNIX-like operating systems, including Linux, other BSD variants like FreeBSD, Apple's Darwin, Solaris and SunOS 4. This allows NetBSD users to run many applications that are only distributed in binary form for other operating systems, usually with no significant loss of performance.

In general, an Embedded System:
• Is a system built to perform its duty, completely or partially independent of human intervention.
• Is specially designed to perform a few tasks in the most efficient way.
• Interacts with physical elements in our environment, viz. controlling and driving a motor, sensing temperature, etc.

Techno2: Assignment 2

Try to walk around somewhere and discover technopreneur idea ...your experience(s) .. at least 2000 words

There's a lot of business when I walked around. I can't think what's the best technopreneur idea because we have to consider the needs of the people. The business idea needs to inspire your confidence and passion. This helps you develop the inner strength needed to persist through uncertainty and adversity.Nowdays in our new era of technology, information technology is the most important things which includes all the technologies for the communication of technology. Discovering technopreneur idea is just like discovering what you want or like in the future. Careful planning is fundamental to success.

The Small Business Planner includes information and resources that will help you at any stage of the business lifecycle. You have to plan your business and get ready for it. In starting a business you have to find a mentor, finance start up, name of the business, location and equipments. The name of the business should be unique so that people will like it and will remember it. I named our business as KaLoKa On The Go. KaLoKa was derived in our first and second letter of our names. And I found it interesting. Interesting because when they heard it, all of them were very confused. So I explained to them what's the meaning of our business. So, choosing the name of your business is kind a fun and memorable one hehe. :) You need to build a unique selling position that motivates your target market to buy from you, instead of your competitors. Then find a mentor. We have to be open minded if starting a business. What product and who will buy the products. Get a mentor. Find people you can bounce ideas off of and get their input. A retired executive from a competitor might make a marvelous choice, or an individual from the local chamber of commerce, or a family friend. You can’t do it alone. There are plenty of people who want to help and all it takes is for you to ask them. Hire employees who are better, faster, and smarter than you.Being right is not important, but doing the right thing always is. Do not let your loyalty to customers, suppliers, or employees bankrupt the business. There may be times when you have to terminate a relationship. And we have to consider also the location of the business. The location is also important. In our business, the seller and the customer will just arrange when will be the meeting place so taht he can get the product/s that he ordered. The first time that I experienced this was in Mcdo Bajada, at first I felt uncomfortable because I will meet a person who's not familiar with me or shall I say a stranger one. But as time passes by, it's okay to meet customers even they are starngers. Exploring is good. And another experience for me. During my childhood days, I sell candies and other things. I don't know why. I just enjoyed it. Business is my passion. That's true.

In managing your business you have to consider the following: lead, make decisions, manage employees, market and price, market and sell, finance growth and the use of technology. You need to evaluate whether the business opportunity can generate enough income to support your needs. There is no value in investing your time and energy into a venture that is not going to deliver enough monetary rewards to fulfil your financial obligations. Market and price and sell is imposrtant. We have to be conscious of the price, also in sell. The use of the technology is important nowadays. Lots of things that we can use. Creating a personal and purposeful definition for entrepreneurship falls somewhere in between writing a personal mission statement and writing your own ideal job description. Your definition should be general enough not to constrain your entrepreneurial endeavors, yet it should identify, perhaps abstractly, your purpose for being an entrepreneur and what you are attempting to achieve. Your definition will prove purposeful if you write it both based on what you currently do as an entrepreneur and also how you envision your role in the future. Pioneering your own business can be an extremely difficult way to generate an income. Entrepreneurs need to have a high tolerance for uncertainty. Discovering a profitable business opportunity is more complex than simply just stumbling upon a good idea. Your success will depend on your ability to transform the idea into an income by delivering marketable products or services. You will need to overcome challenges and adversity. You need to be prepared to deal with the unexpected. To be successful, you need to have the drive to succeed and the perseverance to overcome failure. Business owners constantly face the stress of making important decisions that affect their own business and very often the businesses of their customers. And in business, you have to think the finance growth. Think of the profit. And liquidate the assets.

My technopreneur idea is an all around computer or laptop. I don't know if this kind of product is in the market. My idea is like this, a computer or laptop with a xerox machine, scanner, fax machine and printer. A quadruple machine. In this kind of idea, no one will buy those machines individually because we have this kind of product. It can help also to those people especially who are engaged in this kind of business. It can lessen money in buying this computer. I think this kind of business can help the community. No one will go to the market just to buy printer or fax machine because it is already in one machine. Especially in offices, schools or in home. If you have computers in your house and you want to print something and ypu don'r have printer in your house. This all around computer can help us. It is easy to used and affordable one, compare it when you buy printer or fax machine or xerox machine. And easy to all customers because some stores like this cannot produce all this kind of machines and it's hard for the customer to find another store.

Maybe I have a lots of experiences when it comes to business. I am a small time entrepreneur. I really love business. It makes me happy. To own a small business is an honor for me. I established a small business and I would like to see that my business grow and expand. I accompanied my best of friends in this business. And it was a successful business because we gain profits. Really, we enjoyed this business. And we are planning to have a boutique maybe next year. With the help of God. Most people fail in business because they make avoidable mistakes. Before I started this business, I was afraid. I was bothered what will be the outcome of this business. I think deeply what will be the advantages and disadvantages. The first thing that I looked for was the product. What kind of product so that peole will like it, and the target of this product. We have to consider that nowadays, people needs cheaper one. So we bought clothes that were cheaper one. Most of our clothes were 2nd hands or we called it ukay-ukay. This kind of business is best especially to those people out there who loves clothes. And I really appreciate my effort in establishing this kind of business. Even I am busy I can handle this kind of activity. A big opportunity for me when I discover myself that this is not a past time for me. There a lot of things that I enjoyed and learned when it comes to business. You have to consider also the needs of the people. In amnaging a business you have to be all around. And to think positive. To have a business is a challenge. You have to take risks. The business must always come first. You need to perform a thorough analysis of the business environment to expose potential threats and opportunities for your business. You need to evaluate economic, legal, cultural, political and technological factors that can impact your business. Companies may not have control over the external environment but they can construct contingency plans to deal with the impact the environment on the business.
Do right by the business and it will do right by you. Write up a personal mission statement for your business and your life.t does not matter whether you are a young start-up business or a mature enterprise, discovering the right business opportunities is a vital aspect to your business success. Start-up businesses require an initial business idea which serves as the foundation of their market offering. Mature businesses are faced with the challenge of sourcing new opportunities to stay competitive in a cut-throat business environment. To succeed your business needs to be constantly evolving. Read it every day. Become goal-oriented. List all of the things you want to accomplish in business and in your personal life. Being your own boss gives you independence and the potential to earn an uncapped income. It provides you with greater flexibility for exercising your passions and talents. The business opportunity must fit in with your skills, experience and personality type. There is little hope of success if you do not have the appropriate expertise.

Leadership is one of the key factors to a successful business. now how to lead teams and provide results by having creative insight. Remove the barriers to effective communication by having a leadership style that really matters. Being a good leader can be one one of the factors to be a succesful technopreneur.

Techno2: Assignment 1

Your reflection/learning's on Technopreneurship 1 (at least 2000 words)

When I heard Tecgnopreneurship, lot of things that comes in my mind. The two things that really comes in my mind were business and money. From the word itself, techno means technology and entrepreneurship means business. It means a business that using technology as their business model. An entrepreneur is the one who is willing to own and operate and take the risk of operating any business. Technopreneurs are entrepreneurs who are into the core businesses involving technology-based industries. They make use of technology to come out with new or innovative products through a process of commercialisation. The businesses are generally marked with high growth potential and high leverage of knowledge and intellectual property. Technopreneurs must be equipped with both technical and business skills. I was so excited in this course because I really love business. I love business. I love money. I love to work. And that's the one thing that I really want to know why. All I know is I love those things and I need it. And I know this course can help in the future. As far as I remembered, our instructor told us that if some of you will not be an IT professional, there's an option. The option is to become a Technopreneur someday. When our professor told that, I was happy. I don't know why I felt that.

There were many activities that we discussed in this course. One of them was the story of Steve Jobs. We learned lot of things about his life, how he really cares about business and how he handle his life. I am inspired of what he is, especially I am an Information Technology Students. I have the opportunity to do the same like Steve Job. I can be like him. But I don't want to follow his bad attitude. I don't like the way he treated his employee's as I watched the movie, Job is very strict with his employee's. Jobs regularly misses appointments. He acts without thinking and with bad judgement. He does not give credit where due. Jobs often reacts ad hominem. He makes absurd and wasteful decisions by trying to be paternal. He interrupts and doesn’t listen. He does not keep promises or meet commitments. He makes decisions. For Jobs, innovation has little to do with the amount of investment and capital you have available to finance new research and development. He works hard to get people to “buy in” to his vision. He does this by arguing and debating everything the company does, from new product designs to new looks for its software. They go backwards and forwards until everyone is convinced the idea (or design, or interface) is a good one. After they “buy in,” to the idea, they’ll defend it to death. Jobs once used to throw substandard work in people's faces and call it "shit" until it was done right. In short, Jobs's ceaseless pursuit of perfection has become its own process that is used throughout the company and will continue to be, no matter who is in charge.
Jobs is a powerhouse right now because he studied Gates' ability to embrace and extend and has successfully coupled that with his trademark sense of style that Gates himself admits to wishing he had.

We took some tests in this course. All those tests really help us in starting or putting-up a business. In my experienced, when I took the tests you should concentrate yourself. In order to answer all the questions truly. And in a solemn place. The tests are the following: Personal traits, Emotional Quotient, Intelligence Quotient, and Adversity Test. The personal traits test can determine who you really are. It's like knowing yourself. If you really understand all those questions, you also determine yourself. The result of my personal trait test is very important because it reflects my own self. I was curious about the questions. My percentage is 66. Wow, I got a high score, but not as high. High scorers tend to be nervous, high-strung, insecure, worrying--- this result is some kinda real. I have to admit it. But I hate it.
Neuroticism is a fundamental personality trait in the study of psychology. It is an enduring tendency to experience negative emotional states. Individuals who score high on neuroticism are more likely than the average to experience such feelings as anxiety, anger, guilt, and depressed mood. Yeah, it;s true. I can feel this. Even this time. To be in this kind of situation is very hard. I can't really express here why I feel this way now. The second test was the Emotional Quotient, in this test it deals with your emotion. And can show who you are when it comes to feelings. Some of us are sensitive. As I answered all the questions, I really appreciated all my answers. I that test, I can say that I am a moody person. The next test that I took was The Intelligence Quotient, this test is testing your capability of what you have learned or knowledge. This test is very challenging. Logic questions. The last was Adversity test. This test is giving you a situation of how you handle things in an unexpected things. Of how you deal things in your surroundings. All this tests really help us in knowing our own self. This test really help us. To be able to know our self. I think the more experiences we have, the more we know our self. There's a variety of experiences that we will encounter or will happen to us. We also have the activity in our class to determine what we Love, what we Like and what we Hate the most. The purpose of this activity is to show what are the things that can help us in starting a business or proposing a business. Once a person decides what kind of business they want to be in then it is time for them to start there job of getting everything in order such as the advertising, what products they are going to promote and what kind of place they need to have to do this and get all there work force in place with everyone knowing what there job is and how they are suppose to carry it out and then and then only they will start to profit and make money.

In dealing with business there are some factors that you have to consider. The most important is money. No money, no business. I think that's the rule. And there are some tips to consider Be a life-long learner.I truly believe that we become better people as we learn. Take time throughout your life to grow and learn and become a better person. Take time off. Life isn't just about work. There is so much else to experience here in this life, and unfortunately, too little time to enjoy it. Have the commitments. We live this life based on commitments we make toward one another. his is a key to a successful life. hose who honor those commitments are those who will be respected and trusted by others. Be an open-minded person. If you have that characteristic then it's good. Vision: An open mind and the ability to put new twists on old techniques was one of the key distinguishing factors. For me, you have to think first if you really want to have a business, also what will be your business and to have a good understanding about business matters. But the one important factor is the money. Business involves money. Yea right! You should know how to handle money. And starting a business is an exciting but demanding task. In our lessons. We also discussed some tips in starting a business: you need to assess your understanding of the business as well as your readiness and ability to manage the proposed venture.
It is important to possess the following:
a. Some previous work experience or skills appropriate to your business.
b. Knowledge of your products/service and the market for it.
c. Understanding of the relationship between product knowledge of technological goods and the disciplines of marketing, production, finance and administration.Courage: After being diagnosed with cancer and facing the threat of death, must kept his eyes and ears open and had the courage to seize new opportunities as they came along. Whether risky or outright foolish, Jobs was from then on out determined to follow his intuition in guiding his business decisions.

Before the last semester ends, we have to think our business plans. Our group have a lots of business plans. The first proposal was the on-line customization of shirts. But suddenly our proposal failed. Our professor told us that our business proposal was so easy. Yea we know that sir hehe. It is so hard to think a proposal that can apply to everyone and can help in daily life. Many many proposals that we proposed but it was always failed. And we think and think again. (Higher-Order-Thinking-Skills) Atlast, at the last day of proposing a business plan, our proposal was very successful. Approved! In this kind of situation is an example of being an entrepreneur. You have to be focus on everything and to think deeply. At first you want to give-up but if you really want it then fight for it. The secret of success is doing things that you like. And doing things that you really love. You have to follow your dreams. Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. In the long run, we only hit what we aim at. And most of all never never give up. You must be very sure of what you want and what you like.

The secret of success is doing things that you like. And doing things that you really love. You have to follow your dreams. Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. In the long run, we only hit what we aim at. And most of all never never give up.

Recommend

For those who will take the Field Trip and seminar program next year, I recommend that all students should know their schedules. Like the bus arrangement, schedules of company visit and time schedules.
my blog: Like what happened in PLDT Company. Some of us haven't visited the company because they have no forms. That is why some of my classmates haven't visited the Hitachi GST Company. This situation is an example of tiime conflict. And it can ruin all the schedules. I hope this kind of problem can help the next batch to improve this kind of situation

Advice

My advice for those who will take their Fieldtrip and Seminar program in the near future are the following:

 pick a good leader
 ALL day and evening OFFICERS should communicate. Should have the commitment in this course.
 Members should cooperate, specially during meeting.
 Pay the said amount on time. Smile

Overview

The course Field Trip and Seminars is one of the exciting part of this semester. Surely, we will enjoy this course. In this course, we can gain friends. And can interact with others. A company visits provides a wonderful opportunity to us. To learn and enjoy. I hope this course can have a fabulous and adventure field trip.

October 4, 2010 was the most awaited part of this program. One hundred fifty eight students of University of Southeaster Philippines of Institute of Computing, a 3rd year Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and Bachelor of Science in Computer Science participated the Major Field Trip in Metro Manila.

We visited the following: Bayantel, UP Diliamn, Ayala Techno Hub (SeaChange Company and IBM Company), Advance Science and Technology Institute (ASTI), Social Security System, Hitachi GST, Tagaytay City (Peoples Park in the Sky), Enchanted Kingdom, Telecoms Training Institute and MMDA (Traffic Engineering). We’ve learned many things. The most memorable part for me was in UP Diliman.

Field Trip Day 5

Day 5

Today, I went on a company visit to Telecoms Training Institute in Valenzuela and MMDA (Traffic Engineering) in Mandaluyong.
This is our last day of our field trip. :( Some of us were sad because they want to extend the field trip.. But it can't be. We had four buses. Last day in Manila. We really enjoyed the last hours. Even it was hot that time.
Telecommunications Training Institute or TTI was originally established for the purpose of delivering telecommunications training programs to TELOF employees. However, in view of the training needs of other players in the telecommunications industry, its training programs were opened to other interested parties, such as: technical staff of PTEs, employees from other government agencies, students, out-of-school youths, and foreign students to name a few.
Before going to MMDA, we had our lunch in KFC. It was so hot that day. It was our first time that we visited the company in field. I mean no aircon. We really feel the heat of the sun.
We arrived at MMDA around 1:30 o'clock in the afternoon. We went to their place were we can find the CCTV Cameras that in Metro Manila. The CCTV Camera's are big help to monitor what's happening in the road of Manila. They can have the action immediately if there were accident or other matters that is happening in Metro Manila. All of them are watching the CCTV Camera's 24/7. They have to do their job well. MMDA personnel and equipment remain ready for immediate deployment by Task Force.
What I learned?
TTI has trained selected representatives from countries in Asia. Telecoms Training Institute offers the best training programs in the telecommunications industry. The authorized person told us that radio dispatch or two-way radio communication systems still remains to be the fastest, most reliable, and most affordable means in mobile communications. For mobile communications requirement. The system, which utilizes a “trunked flat form”, can accommodate multi-talk groups, and users can access secured channels for privacy (private call). I don't have any idea about he's topic.

What I liked ?

I liked the services of MMDA like: Transport and Traffic Management – which includes the formulation, coordination and monitoring of policies, standards, programs and projects to rationalize the existing transport operations, infrastructure requirements, the use of thoroughfares; and promotion of safe and convenient movement of persons, goods; provision for the mass transport system and the institution of a system to regulate road users; administration and implementation of all traffic enforcement operations, traffic engineering services and traffic education programs, including the institution of a single ticketing system. Flood Control and sewerage management - which includes the formulation and implementation of policies, standards, rules and regulations, programs and projects for an integrated flood control, drainage and sewerage system. Public Safety – which includes the formulation and implementation of programs and policies and procedures to achieve public safety, especially the preparedness for preventive or rescue operations during times of calamities and disasters such as conflagrations, earthquake, flood and tidal waves; and coordination and mobilization of resources and the implementation for rehabilitation and relief operations in coordination with national agencies concerned. Health and Sanitation, Urban Protection and Pollution Control – which includes the formulation and implementation of policies, rules and regulations, standards, programs and projects
Some of them are the services offered by the MMDA.
I hoped we can have that in Davao City. Actually we have that here but I want to use more technologies.

What I didn’t like?

I don't like visiting the Telecoms Training Institute. I don't know why, because I'm sleepy that time. The company didn't catch up my attention.

Field Trip Day 4

Day 4

Today, I went on a company visit to Hitachi Global Storage Technologies in Binan Laguna. Our group was the only one who visited the Hitachi company. But before that we had breakfast in Garden Plaza Hotel. All of us were very excited for day 4. You know why? Because we are going to Tagaytay City and Enchanted Kingdom. One of the awaited event in our Field Trip. We love this day.
Hitachi is one of the largest collections of private companies. It is an honor to visit the company and be entertained with their employees. Before we went outside, we had our registration first and wore a laboratory jacket and a shoe protector. After that, one of the employer of Hitachi entertained us. I forgot her name. I liked it when she speaks, she was so smart. She told us that Hitachi is unique in that we offer profiles by company and by subsidiaries within those companies, vs. our competitors who provide profiles by individual office. Our profiles aggregate offices by subsidiary to save you money and time. She added, “our profile database offers profiles on more than 400,000 private companies worldwide. These profiles provide information you won't find elsewhere because these companies are not obligated to report this information to anyone. We provide profiles on more private companies than any other information provider on the web”. Amazing isn't it? They also have a power point presentation. We enjoyed watching the Tera Song. The tera byte song. After the power point presentation they give us some briefing about the product that they do in their laboratory. They called it wafer. It is a circle platinum made in gold. They cut it into strips, then cut it like a dot. A small one. One circle of wafer can have a 30,000 squares and put it on their product. We were amazed when we saw the square one. When we have that we can sell it because it was made in gold. We visited each laboratory to have some look what their workers do.
After visiting the company, all of us were very excited. We went to Max's Restaurant in Tagaytay City. We enjoyed the trip, many beautiful places we've seen. I think our group was the only one who went in Max's Restaurant, if they will go there the time will not follow the schedule so our professor told that we will just bring their lunch and they will just eat it in People's Park in Tagaytay. We loved the view in Tagaytay. After we had our lunch, we took some souvenir pictures there. Tagaytay highlands were sa beautiful. I love seeing those places. Tagaytay has traditionally been one of the most visited tourism destinations in the Philippines and located in the Province of Cavite, island of Luzon, approximately 56 kilometers south of Manila. Tagaytay City is considered as the country’s second summer capital next to Baguio City because of its crisp and cool climate all year round, is a treasure box of pleasure points by itself.
After that we went to People's Park in the Sky in Tagaytay. I really love the place. It seems that I was out in the country. We were given an hour to visit the Park. We bought souvenirs. There were many beautiful views that we've seen, took some pictures and videos in the park. All of us enjoyed the trip in Tagaytay.
After Tagaytay, we went to Enchanted Kingdom. The most awaited event. Enchanted Kingdom has been one of the most visited tourist spots here in the Philippines. When we almost in the place we were shocked because there were many buses outside the Enchanted Kingdom. We thought when we arrived their, we were the only people but hundreds of people were there. Some school had also their Educational tour in Enchanted Kingdom. So my group went to the entrance so that we can have a ride. So many rides were there. But unfortunately there were many people who made their lines. So we decided to ride the Space Shuttle. We were afraid to try the ride. After 2 hours of waiting at last we rode the Space Shuttle. We really really enjoyed it. It was amazing. One of the memorable experienced that we had in Manila. Even you ride three or four, you can't enjoyed it if you will not try the Space Shuttle. The best experienced in my life right now. Amazing. After riding, I bought some souvenirs in the store. I bought an enchanted ball pen.
After that, all of us returned to the bus. And some of us returned to the Hotel and some went to Divisoria to buy some souvenirs because it is our last night in Manila. We were so tired that time but really enjoyed the night. My group decided to returned to the hotel. And have some rest and to packed up our things.

What I learned?

The company provides immediate online access to more than three million records including business articles, industry reports, company profiles and executive contacts pulled from business data resources maintained by The Gale Group, Inc. Hitachi provides solutions catering to diverse needs of its customers in Philippines. They market a wide range of products and services for various industry sectors like power generation systems, transmission and distribution systems, heavy industrial equipment, industrial components and equipment as well as elevators and escalators. Hitachi’s philosophy of inspiring the next has made us a world leader in a wide range of technologies to improve every aspect of life.

What I liked ?
I liked the company Hitachi. They ensure the data meets the needs of our customers and conforms to industry standards through direct contact with the companies themselves via corporate websites, communications with company representatives, and phone surveys. I liked itwhen we visited each laboratory even we were outside the laboratory because we can't go inside and we might also disturb them. They have a lots of employee. One who guide us in the laboratory told us that the employee's should do their job in a right manner, they should carefully clean the chips. After cleaning it, the wafer will send to other laboratory room to check one by one. There's a lot of process to be done in this kind of product. If one of the employee's will have a mistake automatically the employee will no longer work to Hitachi. Hitachi will breathe new life into the next era as symbolized by our corporate statement "Inspire the Next" and will contribute to achieving a comfortable and abundant society as a "Best Solutions Partner".
I love the rides. I love the place in Tagaytay. I really enjoyed the day. It was a tiring day but worth it. I was there.

What I didn’t like?

I don't like eating breakfast in Garden plaza Hotel. I really don't like their food. When I used the glass for drinking, it smells like a cockroach. To have that kind of breakfast really really got a bad morning for me. I hope next time, they will clean their utensils and other materials in kitchen so that the people who check-in their hotel will love the amenities they have.

Field Trip Day 3

Day 3

Today, I went on a company visit to Advance Science and Technology Institute in C.P. Garcia, UP Diliman Quezon City. Before we arrived in UP, we had a breakfast in Bellore Restaurant in Examiner Quezon City, besides the Grills and Sizzles Restaurant. In day 3, all of us were energized. I don't know why. Some of us were sleepy. :)
We arrived around 9:00 in the morning in Advance Science and Technology Institute(ASTI), unfortunately we can't go inside of the room because one batch was already cater of the faculty. So our tour guide decided to go to UP canteen to buy some souvenir. We went to one store which we can buy t-shirt, accessories, jackets, sling and etc. Most of the students bought UP slings and t-shirts. The price is affordable. I bought 3 t-shirts for souvenir. After buying those staffs, we went back to the Advance Science and Technology Institute. One of the speaker talked about the typhoon warning device. What are the things to do when having a typhoon and what are the solutions to prevent it.
After visiting in ASTI, we went to Quezon Avenue in Kenny Rogers to have our lunch. We enjoyed the fried chicken their. We took some pictures in the restaurant.
After lunch, we proced to Social Security System in East Avenue Quezon City. The building was so big. I can't imagine that the building that I saw was the SSS company, compared to SSS Davao the building is so small. The building is so big.
The duties and responsibilities of SSS employee-members are the following: An SSS member should:
1.secure their SS numbers;
2.ensure that they are reported for coverage under the SSS by their employers;
3.pay their monthly share of contributions and ensure that these contributions are remitted to the SSS by their employers;
4.ensure that SSS Form R3’s (Contributions Collection Lists) where their name are included, are submitted to the SSS by their employers;
5.pay their monthly loan amortization, if any, thru salary deduction and to ensure that these payments are remitted to the SSS by their employers;
6.update or correct their personal records with the SSS by submitting a duly filled-up SSS Form E-4 (Member’s Data Amendment) and supporting document/s to avoid delays in the processing of benefit claims; and
7.be conscious of changes and improvements in SSS policies and benefit structure.
Mentioned above are the responsibilities of SSS members. They should follow that simple steps.
After visiting the company, we went to Tutuban Mall, also in Divisoria. But before that, the maynilad tours, the agency instructed us that they will give our meal allowance. We will not longer have our dinner in a restaurant. It's a nice idea to give our meal allowance so that we can have the money. We enjoyed shopping in divisoria. But were afraid if there were snatchers around us. Just kidding. :)

What I learned?
I learned about their project that involves development of an Open Source based desktop solution called Byanihan Linux (BL) with the end goal of providing the best alternative desktop solutions to the Filipinos. About the typhoon warning device they discussed to us that the PAGASA Interactive Climate and Weather Information Network (PICWIN) project aims to modernize the communications network of PAGASA, expedite the delivery of weather advisory services to the concerned public officials as well as the general public, and provide a platform for Philippine meteorological researchers to develop and adapt various numerical models. In SSS, social security benefits includes sickness, disability, retirement, maternity, and death funeral. Those benefits mentioned were a big help in our lives. We are pretty lucky if we are a member of this system. Pension is a big help, really a big help. Like my grandfather, also my parents.

What I liked ?
I liked the Social Security System convention hall. The place was comfortable. The hall is so big. Like a theater. I liked their presentation. They really explain the rules and policy of the company. They are very secured with their system. I want to have a job in SSS. The facilities especially some guards were very hospitable and some of them came from in Davao City. As we passed by in the corridor, we heard saying a visayan words, I can't remember what the guard told. But it's so amazing when we saw dabawenyo working in that company.

What I didn’t like?

I don't like going to other place specially when we were heading to Tutuban, the traffic can really give you stress! Can consumed time.

Field Trip Day 2

Day 2

Today, I went on a company visit to UP Diliman in Quezon City. Before we went in UP, we had a breakfast in Grills and Sizzles, Examiner, Quezon City. We arrived in UP around 8:00 o'clock in the morning. The UP faculties welcomed us and we registered before the symposium starts. We had our seminar, UP-USEP (Information Technology Symposium), held at NISMED Auditorium, UP Diliman. Before they present their speakers, they taught us the Y4IT moves. All of us really enjoyed the Y4IT moves.
Professor Lemuel Brana welcomed us. He is the former president of the oldest and largest IT association in the Philippines-the Philippine Computer Society Foundation, also a member of the People Management Association of the Philippines as Information Technology advocate in the HR industry. This guy is so amazing and intelligent man. He taught us how to be an IT Professional and his life being one of the head of their department. The second speaker was Ms. Rose Ann Sale, she's an MS Computer Science student in UP Diliman and a former member of the Web Science Research Group at the Department of Computer Science researching on educational games for kinesthetic learners and developing a spelling application called KineSpell2. We enjoyed watching her video clips in KineSpell2. The third speaker was Mr. John Boaz Lee. He is a graduate student at the Department of Computer Science UP Diliman, also an instructor at the UP Training Center. It seems that my classmates had a crush on him. Just kidding. He's young to become one of the instructor of IT Training Center. And the 4th speaker was Ms. Michelle Moscatel. She pursue her masteral degree in computer science in UP Diliman. She graduated in UP Mindanao. She is also a full-time instructor in UP Diliman, teaching engineering students in programming and computers. Then, the next topic was about Animation. Ms. Len de Garcia was the speaker. I will never forget her as what she told us that to become a lay-out artist no need to have a high grade. All of us were laughing that time. :) She really encourage us what talents what we have. She's really cool person and very talented
Two speakers to go and all of us were very sleepy that time and very hungry. Wew.
The next speaker was Professor Carlos Bott. He is a software engineer with a MBA, a Msc in Information Systems. And a Msc in Aeronautical Science. Also, he is a Game Development Training Consultant at the UP ITTC. The last speaker is Dr. Ferdinand Pitagan. A Monbusho scholar from 2005 to 2010.He is an assistant professor at the College of Education – University of the Philippines, teaching educational technology courses. At last, lunch time. :) After lunch, we went to UP-AYALA Technohub. We visited IBM Innovation Center and SeaChange.
After visiting the two companies. We proceed to Department of Computer Science (UP Alumni Engineers Centennial Hall). We visited the 6 DCS Laboratories.
After visiting UP Diliman, we went to Tramway Restaurant, Timog Avenue in Quezon City. All of us were very hungry. We had a great dinner in the restaurant even their food is not that delicious. :) Then, after dinner, we went to Trinoma for a while. Some of us did not go out of the bus because they feel tired. They want to go to the hotel. After an hour all of us came back to hotel and have some rest. To have some sleep and get ready for the 3rd day.
What I learned?
We had a lots of learning in IBM. We went to their data center. The speaker taught us about the services and it includes the assistance in a variety of areas and in a complex, multiplatform environment, including Linux -- from design and planning, procurement, installation, integration and migration assistance to systems management, telephone consulting and on-site hardware and software maintenance. The six laboratories are the following: Algorithm and Complexity Lab, Computer Vision and Machine Intelligence Lab, Scientific Computing Lab, Computer Security Lab, Networking and Distributed Systems Lab and Web Science Lab. I am so amazed when I saw the work of one of the students of CS students. He made a program that can count the blink of his eyes. That program is not an easy task. After he presented his work, I was inspired of his work. I don't know if I can do like that. For me, it really takes time to make that kind of program. He also said that program is easy. Woooo. :) After seeing his program all of us were very proud of them. And we are inspired because of their work.

What I liked ?
This day was our second day and it seems that we stayed for a long long time here in Manila because we had a very long day. We had many activities this day. It's an honor to go in UP Diliman. I really enjoyed. We really enjoyed. I liked the school. UP Diliman is a big school ever that I've seen.

What I didn’t like?
Hmmm... What I didn’t like? Let me think?... I love UP Diliman.

Field Trip Day 1

Day 1

Today, I went on a company visit to Bayantel. We arrived around 1:00 o’clock in the afternoon in Manila. All of us, batch 3 and 4 went to our assigned bus. It was a fine and hot afternoon. But before we went there, we’ve seen many places. All of us were very excited and energized. I can’t explain what I really feel. After how many months of waiting, I can’t believe that all of us are in Manila. We had lunch at Jade Valley Restaurant in Timnog Avenue, Quezon City. We had a great lunch in Jade Valley and all of us that time were very very hungry. We took some pictures. After lunch, we went to Bayantel, which located in SFDM, Quezon City. One of the employee of Bayantel welcomed us. We went to their meeting room and beside that room we can see their employees working in their respective tasks. We were amazed when we saw their projects about networking. Also, we talked about power interruptions and their intermittent connection. And had an exchange questions between students and the speaker after the power point presentation. Bayan Telecommunications, the operating arm of BTHC and formerly known as International Communications Corporation.
After the company visit, we went to Mall of Asia. All of us were very excited. It's our first time! We had given an hour to stroll in MOA. Then, we went to the restaurant to have our dinner in Taste Asia. And arrived/check-in at the hotel-Garden Plaza Hotel in Paco Manila around 9:00 in the evening. All of us were very tired.
What I learned?
I learned about the IP performance to test, measure and their networks. Also, they said that even they have a fast connection they usually have an intermittent connection. Bayan Telecommunications' existing nationwide network is composed of satellite, terrestrial and land/submarine based cable facilities.
What I liked ?
I liked their line advertisement, “gaganda pa ang buhay sa bayan.” In this line, they encourage the Filipino people to like and love their products. With this, the speaker said that all products of bayantel are best and they find it easier to go global.
What I didn’t like?
In the first company visit, I don't like what the speaker told us. Some of his topics were not related to our course, Information Technology. Some of his topics are related to engineering students. But we have no choice, we have to listen what the speaker taught us.

Assignment 4

In this commencement of Steve Jobs there were many lessons that we can learn. Connecting the dots is all about the things that happen in our life. Our life is very important. We have to do things in a right way. There are many trials that we have to face. There are good and bad reasons. All the things that we will encounter in the future are just a challenge for us. It is just like a game. You can win or lose. You have to accept the reality of life. Failure is just a lesson for us to learn and to be taught. In everything we do in this life, do what you want that you think is right.
That’s why we have to find what we love most. In my life, I have no doubt what I’ve been before. Life is so confusing. Why? Because we don’t know what will happen to us in the future. Many things will come to us. Just trust yourself in everything you do, don’t be afraid in dealing with a things that you feel you can’t do. Just like lifting a baby in the air. They really don’t know what will happen to them.
You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them by looking backward. So we have to learn from what went before. Yeah! That is true. 'Cause when you connect the dots looking forward, you are just expecting it. Expecting on something that will never happen feels like, we are dying.

The second story is all about the Love and Lost. Love is the things that we care for. The things that we like. The things that we want. In life, not all the things that we want will just come to us. Finding what we love can lead us to a better life.

“Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick. Don’t lose faith. I’m convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did. You’ve got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for you lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As will all the matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don’t settle. “
In that quotation from Steve, I was inspired. We have to believe of what we want and what we love. Losing what we love is the hardest part. We have to accept the fact. But there’s always a rainbow after a rain. Trials are just a test for us. Don’t give up if there’s something you give. Don’t be scared. Just love what you do. Just enjoy what life brings to us.
Just like in a relationship, you have to do your best. Being able to love and to be love is the happiest moment that I encounter.

The last story is about Death. I’m afraid of death. I’m so scared to think about this. I know all of us are afraid of death. In the story of Steve Job, God has given him a second chance in his life. Every time I see myself in death is just like living in a useless life. It’s so hard to admit that sometimes I want to end this life. I don’t know why. So tired to face all the challenges in my life, but I know there’s something good that will come to me. Even I want to surrender; I’m just enjoying what I have right now. Do what you want, tim

Lessons of hope and inspiration I have learned in the past is such a great thing to me. Stay hungry for all the things that will happen to us.

Assignment 2

your reflections/insights on your personal traits test ... (at least 2000 words)

When I took my personal traits test in the laboratory 1, I;m not that confident to answer all the questions. I was not able to prepare myself that time. I was afraid to answer all the questions and I don't know why. Afraid?yes, really afraid that time of what will be the output of my test. Personal Traits for me, means that you are talking or dealing with your own self. In answering, you have to be ready and focus your self to the questions so that you can answer all the questions that suits your personality. This test is not a joke or it is not a game. This test is a challenge for us, to be able to know our personal traits. During that time in the laboratory, when I read all the questions the one thing that is always on my mind was the result. The result of my personal trait test is very important because it reflects my own self. I was curious about the questions. And you have only two choices, the letters A and B. For me, the two choices can reflect my self, but I have to think the best answer. I have to pick only one that can really tell who I am. It is not easy to pick the two choices. In answering my personal trait test, I have to be open-minded even though that time I felt curious. The test shows our curiosity, our self-discipline, if we are organized in our self, if we are sensitive and etc. This test really help us. To be able to know our self. I think the more experiences we have, the more we know our self. There's a variety of experiences that we will encounter or will happen to us. Even there are two choices, it is not easy to answer all the questions. Being in yourself is not that easy. But we have to be focus to know our personal trait results.

After the test, I don't know if all my answers were real. Just kidding. Hehe. I realized that I have a lots of experiences than my other classmates. I love to show what I really feel. I realized also that I am easy going person but not all the time. As I answered all the questions, there's a question that really reflects me. It was about business. I love business. I love money. I love to work. And that's the one thing that I really want to know why. All I know is I love those things and I need it. Maybe, I enjoyed it? Or I want it? I am a moody person. Sometimes good, sometimes bad. Sometimes happy, sometimes sad. I can't understand myself sometimes. Personal traits test can really help us in determining our self. It is a big help for us to know our self. In the middle of answering all the questions, I felt confident that time. I felt happy and curious. I have to be sensitive with my self.

This time I will show you my result. This test shows my Big Five Results. I took this test in the internet.

What aspects of personality does this tell me about?
There has been much research on how people describe others, and five major dimensions of human personality have been found. They are often referred to as the OCEAN model of personality, because of the acronym from the names of the five dimensions.

Openness to Experience/Intellect

High scorers tend to be original, creative, curious, complex; Low scorers tend to be conventional, down to earth, narrow interests, uncreative.
You prefer traditional and familiar experiences. (Your percentile: 12 )

My percentage is only 12. My score is very low. Low scorers tend to be conventional, down to earth, narrow interests and uncreative. Why is it that I am uncreative?I don't know why huh. All I know is I love doing things that is usual. I can say that I am a creative person. Or I am expecting too much that I am a creative person?that is why I said this. Or being creative is not that enough to prove my self. Maybe, I have to be more open-minded in doing such things Being uncreative is not being or productive of something fresh and unusual. Narrowed interests create imbalanced spiritual equilibrium. Occupy most of the time, attention, and activity, and become ends in themselves. As they are magnified they become out of focus and out of balance with the harmonious system And about down-to earth person. I always put that on myself. Always be humble in everything. I'm kind to those person who is kind to me, also to other persons who is unkind. People who are open to experience are no different in mental health from people who are closed to experience. There is no relationship between openness and neuroticism, or any other measure of psychological well being. Being open and closed to experience are simply two different ways of relating to the world.

Conscientiousness

High scorers tend to be reliable, well-organized, self-disciplined, careful; Low scorers tend to be disorganized, undependable, negligent.
You are neither organized or disorganized. (Your percentile: 58)

My percentage is 58. My score here is some kinda 50:50. I'm a slight reliable, well-organized, self-disciplined, careful, disorganized, undependable and negligent. In this result it shows my behavior. For example, all my clothes are all organized. I put them in order, like the colors. All whites are in this sections and the other colors as well. Like my pants, I put them as one. All my clothes are all in my cabinet. I hang all my uniforms. And also my pair of shoes were all arranged. But sometimes there's a time that I am lazy doing those things. Am I careful? Maybe. Hehe. But I am not careless person huh. Conscientiousness is related to successful academic performance in students. Low levels of conscientiousness are strongly associated with procrastination. A considerable amount of research indicates that conscientiousness is one of the best predictors of performance in the workplace. and indeed that after general mental ability is taken into account, the other four of the Big Five personality traitsd o not aid in predicting career success. Conscientiousness is the only personality trait that correlates with performance across all categories of jobs.

Extraversion

High scorers tend to be sociable, friendly, fun loving, talkative; Low scorers tend to be introverted, reserved, inhibited, quiet.
You are neither particularly social or reserved. (Your percentile: 42)

My percentage is 42. I was shocked of this result. I got a low score. And low scorers tend to be introverted, reserved, inhibited, quiet. Quiet?really?.. hmmm as I know myself, I am a talkative person. I always cheer person who are quiet. I am the one who will always talk them first so that they will not feel alone. I'll chat with them first. As I search what is extraversion. It said here that, Extraversion is "the act, state, or habit of being predominantly concerned with and obtaining gratification from what is outside the self". Extraverts tend to enjoy human interactions and to be enthusiastic, talkative, assertive, and gregarious. They take pleasure in activities that involve large social gatherings, such as parties, community activities, public demonstrations, and business or political groups. Politics, teaching, sales, managing, brokering, and acting are fields that favor extraversion. An extraverted person is likely to enjoy time spent with people and find less reward in time spent alone. They tend to be energized when around other people, and they are more prone to boredom when they are by themselves. As I read what is extraversion is. I can really relate myself to it. And I don't want to trust my results here.

And I'm not a introvert person. Introversion is "the state of or tendency toward being wholly or predominantly concerned with and interested in one's own mental life".Introverts tend to be more reserved and less outspoken in large groups. They often take pleasure in solitary activities such as reading, writing, drawing, tinkering, playing video games, watching movies and plays, and using computers, along with some more reserved outdoor activities such as fishing. The archetypal artist, writer, sculptor, engineer, composer, and inventor are all highly introverted. An introvert is likely to enjoy time spent alone and find less reward in time spent with large groups of people, though they tend to enjoy interactions with close friends. They prefer to concentrate on a single activity at a time and like to observe situations before they participate. Introverts are easily overwhelmed by too much stimulation from social gatherings and engagement. They are more analytial before speaking.

Introversion is not the same as shyness or the social outcast. Introverts choose solitary over social activities by preference, whereas shy people avoid social encounters out of fear and whereas the social outcast faces solitude, but not by choice. I'm not that kind of person. I love adventures but I want to spend it with someone or somebody. I t is more enjoyable when you have accompanied by someone or groups.

Agreeableness

High scorers tend to be good natured, sympathetic, forgiving, courteous; Low scorers tend to be critical, rude, harsh, callous.
You find it easy to express irritation with others (Your percentile: 38)

My percentage is 38 only. Why so low? Am I harsh?rude? I hate my results here. It seems that I am not the one who took the exam. Is this true?
Okay fine. I research what is agreeableness. Agreeableness is an asset in a wide range of social situations. Agreeable individuals are biased toward liking others and viewing them in a positive light, whereas disagreeable people are more negative. Despite the label, there is no evidence that those high on agreeableness are more conforming, or influenced by others in making choices, than are their peers. The research also shows that people high in agreeableness are more likely to control negative emotions like anger in conflict situations.

People scoring low on the agreeableness chart are generally less concerned with others' well-being, report less empathy, and are therefore less likely to go out of their way to help others. Their skepticism about other people's motives may cause them to be suspicious and unfriendly. People very low on agreeableness have a tendency to be manipulative in their social relationships. They are more likely to compete than to cooperate.
Is this true? More likely to compete than to cooperate? Oh my. I love helping people. But it is okay, this is not only the thing that will measure my capability. It's just a result.

Neuroticism

High scorers tend to be nervous, high-strung, insecure, worrying; Low scorers tend to be calm, relaxed, secure, hardy.
You tend to become anxious or nervous. (Your percentile: 66 )

They respond more poorly to environmental stress, and are more likely to interpret ordinary situations as threatening, and minor frustrations as hopelessly difficult. They are often self-conscious and shy, and they may have trouble controlling urges and delaying gratification. Neuroticism is associated with low emotional intelligence, which involves emotional regulation, motivation, and interpersonal skills. It is also a risk factor for "internalizing" mental disorders such as phobia, depression, panic disorder

In this test, I realized that we can still improve ourselves. We can still show what we are. I know deep inside of our individual characters there will be some of us can prove that they are worth in doing things that they thought they ignored.

Assignment 1

1. What are the factors that contributed to the success and failure of Steve Jobs as a technopreneur?

A technoprenuer is an entrepreneur who is technology savvy, creative, innovative, dynamic, dares to be different and take the unexplored path, and very passionate about their work. Technopreneur is come from 2 words Technologhy and Entrepreneur. It means a business that using technology as their business model. Steve Jobs is an obsessive creature with a volcanic temper and likes to make his own decision. He embraced the personality of being perfectionism and total faith in his intuition to triumph against steep odds. And he has become a self-made billionaire. But there are a host of issues with Jobs, which experts believe, his peers shouldn’t be learning from him.

The factors that contributed to the success of Steve Jobs as a technopreneur are the following: Steve’s perfectionism that are driving Apple’s success. He has a great ability to get others excited about fulfilling a vision. He generates far more press by keeping secrets than revealing them. And where some people see a negative trait like obsessive, fanatical attention to detail, others see an admirable refusal to compromise. Jobs is an elitist who thinks most people are bozos but he makes gadgets so easy to use, a bozo can master them. He has a reputation as a terrible screamer and shouter, but not enough has been made of his incredible charm and passion. He’s a mercurial obsessive with a filthy temper—but he forges deep partnerships. This has more to do with Apple’s success than yelling at people.

Steve’s works hard to get people to “buy in” to his vision.
For Jobs, innovation has little to do with the amount of investment and capital you have available to finance new research and development.

“I want to put a dent in the universe,” Jobs once said. From the Apple I to the MacIntosh to the iPod, Jobs has come virtually close to achieving his goal, managing to make a name for himself in all of the business, entertainment and technological worlds.

What did it take for him to get to the top?

Faith: Jobs didn’t always know what he was doing in life. A college dropout, many gave up on him and had little faith in his abilities. But, Jobs didn’t give up on himself. He continued pursuing avenues that he found interesting, trusting that in the end it would be more meaningful and even perhaps useful. He soon learned that everything in his life, even the most terrible things, seem to happen for a reason and he is now able to place a certain amount of trust in the uncontrollable.

Passion: “Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work,” says Jobs. From his first days working at his father’s workbench, Jobs knew that his future lay in the creation of things. It wasn’t until he met Wozniak in 1968 that he knew what those things were – personal computers. Despite failures such as Apple III and being fired from the company he helped found, Jobs managed to come back out on top because he knew that he didn’t want to devote his life to anything but his passion.

Courage: After being diagnosed with cancer and facing the threat of death, Jobs made a recovery and vowed to make the most of the second chance that he was given. He kept his eyes and ears open and had the courage to seize new opportunities as they came along. Whether risky or outright foolish, Jobs was from then on out determined to follow his intuition in guiding his business decisions. And, at a net worth of over $4 billion, it paid off.

Innovation: When other CEOs were focusing on sales and financing, Jobs was concerning himself with the next big thing. Personally meeting with suppliers and suppliers’ suppliers, Jobs made it his top priority to keep on top of the next frontier. By filling his company with only the brightest of people, Jobs continues to work towards ensuring Apple a place at the top of the market for years to come.

Vision: An open mind and the ability to put new twists on old techniques was one of the key distinguishing factors between Jobs and his competitors. From cute and utilitarian ads to those that appealed to counterculture rebellion, Jobs’ vision was integrated into every aspect of the company’s strategy. If you dreamed of changing the world, then Jobs was out to prove any way he could that you needed an Apple computer to do it.

From being thought of as a one-hit wonder for his role in founding Apple Computer in the 1970s to rebounding with Pixar and once again rejuvenating Apple, Jobs has time and time again demonstrated resilience in the face of adversity. And, he shows no signs of stepping down any time soon. “I think we’re having fun. I think our customers really like our products. And we’re always trying to do better.”

With a reputation for being a hardnosed perfectionist, Jobs believes that having the best and the brightest workers behind him was one of his biggest success factors.

2. How do you see yourself as a technopreneur?

In the introduction, I said that 'I am a small time entrepreneur.' When I was a kid, my family had a business and as I observed them, they work hard so that our business will grow, to gain more customers and also. business is fun and challenging. That's why I love business. And I want to have a business in my own. Having a business
in our own way is not easy. There are some factors to be considered. For me, you have to think first if you really want to have a business, also what will be your business and to have a good understanding about business matters. But the one important factor is the money. Business involves money. Yea right! You should know how to handle money. And starting a business is an exciting but demanding task.

Well, an entrepreneur is the one who is willing to own and operate and take the risk of operating any business. He is the one who manages all the factors of production to carry on with production. But with time, the purview of the word entrepreneur changed dramatically and it became a comprehensive word signifying a lot of different aspects of business.

Technopreneurship is a term which is generally used for software companies.

Technopreneurs are entrepreneurs who are into the core businesses involving technology-based industries. They make use of technology to come out with new or innovative products through a process of commercialisation. The businesses are generally marked with high growth potential and high leverage of knowledge and intellectual property. Potential
Technopreneurs must be equipped with both technical and business skills.

A technopreneur distinguishes logic from tradition, tradition from prejudice, prejudice from common sense and common sense from nonsense while integrating a variety of ideas from diverse groups and disciplines.
A unique community is established where all incubators become part of a shared network, thus providing them with valuable opportunities for new ventures, knowledge, and expertise on a common platform. A knowledge-based platform is established with various including business advisory, incubation and start-up programmes, as well as business enrichment services.

So, if you want to be a technopreneur, start with assessing yourself, if you are really for it. And be very honest about it. You can't cheat yourself. What are your interests? Are you really interested in being a technopreneur or are you joining the bandwagon? Do you have the aptitude to be a technopreneur? What are the relative advantages and the disadvantages of being a technopreneur?

You must be very sure of what you want. The people that are willing to take on this roll are the people who usally make a huge amount of money in the long run because of the risk they take and to have a good person at the top to lead is a must for complete success. By putting up a small business you will also make money jusy not large sums as quick or as much but it is what the person wants to take on and how much responsiblity they are willing to have put on there shoulders.

Some tips in starting a Technopreneurial Venture:

Before you start a technological business, you need to assess your understanding of the business as well as your readiness and ability to manage the proposed venture.
It is important to possess the following:
a. Some previous work experience or skills appropriate to your business.
b. Knowledge of your products/service and the market for it.
c. Understanding of the relationship between product knowledge of technological goods and the disciplines of marketing, production, finance and administration.

Starting a business and nurturing it takes a lot of time and effort. Ask yourself these questions:

a.) Will I be dedicated to this venture?
b.) How much of my time and myself can I commit?
c.) Can I manage the stress on myself and my family and friends at the start-up stage?
d.) How can I manage my time effectively?

Characteristics of Technopreneurship:

The tasks that technopreneurs must face when starting up, developing and managing a new business are enormous.
The technopreneur often finds it difficult to fulfil all the necessary management roles effectively.
They may be skilled and effective in design, research and development, production and selling but may lack the experience in business administration, including financial matters.

A succesful entrepreneurship is the one who: is motivated and who is able to motivate those around him/her, is able to manage time effectively, has the ability to leverage off strengths and overcome weaknesses, manages resources well, considers health as well as wealth, is flexible and able to adapt well to change, and is willing to learn from others.

3. Would you take the same career path that Steve Jobs took? Why or why not?

We all know that Steve Job is a successful business man. He is famous. And good in handling business, He is a risk-taker. Yes, I want to take the same career of Steve Job. Optimistic estimates.
Jobs is often irresponsible and inconsiderate. Like what he did to his employee's, he did not consider them as a human. If I am the employeer, I will give enough time to them to relax so that they can work the program easily without pressure. I will give them time to think.
Steve’s bad temper has notoriously caused him to break important business relationships. He fired Raskin after he learned about the note.

There are indeed several accounts of Steve getting angry at random employees and firing them on the spot for trivial reasons. Steve Job is a perfectionist, he doesn't mind what people may talk about him. Steve will only settle for the absolute best in everything he does (even in his private life, for that matter). This standard of excellence drives many of his employees crazy, but, as stated above, it also pushes them to their very best and make them achieve extraordinary performances. If an employee is not able to meet Steve’s standards, he will not hesitate to fire him — hence many of his critics. But he always had excellent relationships with exceptionally bright people for the same reason: they understand his quest for the best.

The secret of success is doing things that you like. And doing things that you really love. You have to follow your dreams. Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. In the long run, we only hit what we aim at. And most of all never never give up.

Things that I should remember:
Always be positive. Think Success, not Failure. Beware of a negative environment. Take action, goals are nothing without action. Never stop learning, becoming a life long learner would benefit us. Be Persistent and Work Hard: Success is a marathon, not a sprint. Never give up. Deal And Communicate With People Effectively: No person is an island. Learn to understand and motivate others.
Successful people develop and nurture a network and they only do that by treating people openly, fairly and many times firmly. There is nothing wrong about being firm – just don’t cross the a-hole line. Be Honest And Dependable: Take responsibility. Creating mutually beneficial relationships with other people is not only important for our social well-being but also for any kind of success we seek to achieve. It is by giving and taking that we open these doors to new, and sometimes unexpected, great opportunities. The are multiple roots causing attitudes of negative expectations. Negative expectations in life tend to create self fulfilling prophesies. If our mindset reflects an attitude of “I can’t possibly do or achieve that”, chances are that these predictions will become a reality. People with generally negative expectations often feel that life is a constant struggle and the next negative event is just around the corner.

Here are some tips for being a successful human being who has a successful life:
Love People, Use Things.
People who become "successful" and miss a successful life are those who love things and use people. Be sure to put people as a priority for your life.
Take time off.
Life isn't just about work. There is so much else to experience here in this life, and unfortunately, too little time to enjoy it.
Be a life-long learner.
I truly believe that we become better people as we learn. Take time throughout your life to grow and learn and become a better person.
Keep a sense of humor.
People who laugh are a gift to the world. Don't take yourself or your circumstances to seriously. Learn to look on the bright side and see the humor in situations.
Honor your commitments.

This is a key to a successful life. We live this life based on commitments we make toward one another. Those who honor those commitments are those who will be respected and trusted by others.

You should be passionate about work; at least you should like what you are doing else your output will not be as good as it could have been which is unfavorable while setting up and running a business. All you need is a positive approach towards it and then the work will continue smoothly sans any interruptions. But if you lack these simple attributes, it would be impossible for you carry on with it and eventually, you will be limp and unresponsive of everything around you. This situation can be easily averted only if you are disciplined, efficient at time management and possess that right positive attitude towards life.

We all need to start seeing the world from a different perspective. I can say that Steve Job had the best characteristic of being an entrepreneur. But he's lack of a good attitude. And I really don't admire his action or his behavior. He is self-centered. He always think what is right for him, he did not consider his employee's and other people. He's lack of effective communication skills especially the people that surrounds him.
Put purpose, passion, prosperity and peace into your life by dedicating yourself to self-improvement and service to others.

The passion of work of Steve Job is really amazing. He really worked hard, and it help us today. Especially in technology matters. I know that there were many young people today will become like Steve Job. We have to encourage them to have some good characteristic of him.
